Elizabeth Ellen Stufflebeam was the first child of John S. and Jane (Stufflebeam) Stufflebeam, born November 1839, Lawrence County, Illinois.

It’s a bit unusual that no marriage record has been found for her because other family members’ records have been located, but Elizabeth Ellen Stufflebeam married Robert Looker about 1860.

Exactly when her daughters were born is uncertain because their ages vary by a couple of years in the census records. However, both were born between 1860-1864.

Elizabeth, or Ellen Elizabeth as she was also known, died at the young age of 24 years, possibly giving birth to a third child who didn’t survive.

1. Anna Jane, born about December 1860, possibly in Missouri; died 19 January 1929, Peoria County, Illinois; married George N. Empey, 24 December 1881, Iroquois County, Illinois. The 1870 census notes her birth place as Missouri and the writing is clearly different than the other entries that say Illinois. They were the parents of four children, but only one had a child and that daughter had no children. No descendants.
2. Ida Ellen, born about November 1862, probably Iroquois County, Missouri; died 30 May 1938, Gregg County, Texas; married Edwin Fussell Temple, 3 May 1887, Iroquois County, Illinois. They were the parents of four children, but only one had children.

George N. Empey and Anna Jane Looker were the parents of four children. However, they have NO descendants living today.

2. William Edwin, born about 15 January 1889, Iroquois County, Illinois; died 10 February 1931, Peoria county, Illinois; married Olive Irene Larkin, 20 April 1910, Kankakee County, Illinois. They were the parents of three sons who all died at birth. No descendants.
3. Lulu Bessie, born 6 February 1889, Iroquois County, Illinois; did 25 July 1986, Illinois; married Elmer Francis Penry, c1910. They had one daughter, Myrtle, who married John Benton Caudill, c1940, but they had no children. No descendants.
4. Myrtle Irene, born 8 February 1897, Illinois; died 17 December 1916, Iroquois County, Illinois. No descendants.

Edwin Fussell Temple and Ida Ellen Looker were the parents of four children.

1. Edwin Vernon, born 16 January 1888, Illinois; died 1 April 1989, Gregg County, Texas; married Mary Ellen Graybill, 24 December 1915, Gregg County, Texas. They were the parents of one daughter.
2. Elva West, born 1891, Illinois; died 19 September 1989, Harrison County, Texas; married Clifford Grover Mercer, 30 October 1910, Gregg County, Texas. They were the parents of one daughter, Verniece Marie, who married and had a daughter, but there were no grandchildren. No descendants.
3. Ida Floy, born 12 July 1905, Gregg County, Texas; died about 24 June 1907, Gregg County, Texas. No descendants.
4. LaRoy, born 12 July 1905, Gregg County, Texas; died 24 October 1906, Gregg County, Texas. No descendants.

Next Generation

Edwin Vernon Temple and Mary Ellen Graybill were the parents of one daughter who married and had a son and daughter. This brings us to living people, so there are descendants today in this line.
