It doesn’t take much for the dog days of summer to arrive in Tucson, but at least the monsoon season has also arrived, providing a chance of summer rain.
Although I can’t really even carry a tune, I’ve always enjoyed music and, at my age, my favorite genre is, of course, the Oldies.
Among my summer memories growing up are some songs definitely linked to the season that remain on my favorites list.
Here are some songs that always bring a smile, memories and a lot of enjoyment:
Those Lazy-Hazy-Crazy Days of Summer by Nat King Cole
Itsy Bitsy Teenie Weenie Yellow Polka Dot Bikini by Brian Hyland
A Summer Song by Chad and Jeremy
Surfin’ USA by the Beach Boys
Summertime Blues by Eddie Cochran
Summer in the City by the Lovin’ Spoonful
Under the Boardwalk by the Drifters
Palisades Park by Freddie Cannon
Surf City by Jan and Dean
Theme from a Summer Place by Percy Faith
July is a great time to listen to all these songs once again because Tucsonans spend a lot of time indoors this time of year!
