William Bert, the son of Robert Bert and Margaret (possibly Richman), was born c1496.

He had a large family by two wives. He married (1) Johan Godhold, c1521 and then married (2) Agnes Borrett, 25 July 1541, Stradbroke, Suffolk, England.

William Sr. died between 2 March 1555/56, when he wrote his will, and 6 November 1556, when the will was proved in court.

There are several early offshoots of the Fisher family tree that still need to be addressed.

The first is the ancestry of Margerie Bert who married William Fisher in 1551. Her parents and paternal grandparents have been proven, so I’ll begin with a family sketch, short as it is, about her paternal grandfather.

Robert Bert was born c1465, possibly in Stradbroke, Suffolk, England, where he lived in later life.

He likely married (1) Unknown, 1490, by whom he had one child. That wife might have died in childbirth and he married (2) Margaret, who was possibly a Richman by birth, due to multiple records connecting Robert to the Richman family.

Robert was the father of two known children:

1. Christian, born c1491; married Unknown, but had a son Robert and “daughters” mentioned in her father’s will. She was most likely the daughter of his first wife.
2. William, born c1496; died between 2 March 1555/56, the date he wrote his will and 6 November 1556, when the will was proved in court; married (1) Johan Godhold, c1521 (2) Agnes Borrett, 25 June 1541, Stradbroke, Suffolk, England

Robert Bert died between 20 April 1519, when he wrote his will, and 7 June 1519, when his will was proved in court.
