Thomas Godbold was perhaps born c1450, the son of William and Elizabeth (MNU) Godbold of Dennington, Suffolk, England.

Thomas seems to have married twice and had families with both, with children likely born in Dennington.

However, not even their given names have survived time.

Children:

1. Roger, born c1473; died between 12 January 1535/36 and 31 October 1536, dates of his will and probate; married Margery (MNU). He named four children in his will and left lengthy bequests to several other families.
2. Thomas, born c1478; buried 21 December 1540, Badingham, Suffolk, England; wrote a nuncupative will on 20 December 1540. No wife or children were named.
3. Daughter, born c1483; married Unknown Fiske
4. (Probably) William, born c1488
5. Anne, born c1493; died before 17 March 1553/54, when her will was probate, Laxfield, Suffolk, England; married William Crispe

With today’s and tomorrow’s family sketches covering two generations of the Godbold family, my lengthy series of family sketches pertaining to my cousins’ ancestral lines will come to a close at least for now.

My next job will be to finish entering all this data in genealogy software so it can easily be shared with their families.

William Godbold was born c1425 to unknown parents. He married Elizabeth (MNU), c1448, but very little is known about this couple.

William Godbold died between 4 April 1504 and 14 December 1507, the dates of his will and probate.

However, his will named only his wife, Elizabeth, and one son.

Child of William and Elizabeth (MNU) Godbold:

1. Thomas, born c1450, probably in Dennington, Suffolk, England, where his parents lived; died after his father’s 1504 will; married (1) Unknown (MNU) and likely (2) Unknown (MNU) and had families with each wife.

Thomas inherited a tenement from his father. However, manorial records of Dennington from this early time have not survived.

This is another exceedingly short family sketch, but, again, given the time frame in the 1400s, it is fabulous that there are surviving records to partially tell their life stories.
