Jacob Stufflebeam & Keziah Bean, Ohio & Iowa

Jacob Stufflebeam was born c1798, most likely somewhere in New York, the son of Jacob Stufflebeam and an unknown mother.

He married Keziah Bean/Bane, 10 January 1822, Morgan County, Ohio. Although Jacob’s reported birth year in 1850 was 1794, that is probably several years too early. His parents married in 1777 and Keziah was born c1803.

In 1830, Jacob and his young family lived in Brush Creek, Muskingum, Ohio. At home were Jacob (30-39), Keziah (20-29) and three children – female (10-14), female (5-9), male (under 5) and female (under 5).

The female aged 10-14 is unknown. However, the other young children fit daughter Elizabeth, son Elias and a daughter who died young.

The family hasn’t been found in 1840, but were living in Fox Township, Davis, Iowa in 1850, the last census in which Jacob appears.

Jacob died on 9 April 1858 in Davis County, Iowa, where the administration of his estate began on 25 April 1858 with two of his sons-in-law among those named in the paperwork.

Keziah survived Jacob by quite a few years. She is last found in the 1870 census and likely died before 1880.
