Caspar and Catherine (MNU) Starr were the parents of four daughters before they welcomed two sons, their fifth and sixth children.
John Starr was born 28 November 1768, based on his age at death on his gravestone – 77 years, 2 months, 2 days. He married Rachel Jobe, 24 March 1795, Rowan County, North Carolina. John died on 30 January 1846.
Rachel Jobe was born 15 January 1775, North Carolina, also based on her age at death on her gravestone – 91 years, 1 month, 7 days. Rachel survived her husband by many years, dying on 22 February 1866.
Both are buried in Elkhorn Cemetery in Wayne County, Indiana.
Children:
- Jesse, born 17 January 1797, Rowan County, North Carolina; died 13 March 1869, Putnam County, Indiana; married (1) Mary Fall, 11 December 1817, Wayne County, Indiana (2) Mary Crews, 25 January 1823, Crawford County, Illinois.

- Thomas, born 12 December 1807, North Carolina; died 30 January 1880, Putnam County, Missouri; married Rachel Jobe, 14 September 1828, Union County, Indiana

- Samuel, born 5 September 1812, Indiana; died between 1860-1870 censuses, probably Mills County, Iowa; married Nancy Etcheson, 20 January 1831, Union County, Indiana. She was born c1808, North Carolina; died after 1880, probably Mills County, Iowa.
John Starr and his family left North Carolina, probably in the fall of 1807 and migrated to Indiana with Jobe and McAtee relatives.
Caspar/Jasper Starr was born c1771, possibly in Maryland. He married Alse aka Ailsey Watkins, 18 October 1796, Surry County, North Carolina. Unusual for this family, Jasper left a will naming children John, Thomas, Elijah and Elizabeth. Jasper died between 16 February 1850, the date of his will, and 6 May 1850, the date his executor was approved by the court.
The 1810 census includes another girl under 10, but she is gone by 1820 and, if married, she apparently died leaving no children. For whatever reason, the name Caspar began to morph into Jasper, beginning with this man and continuing with the grandchildren of Caspar and Catherine Stoehr/Starr.
Like brother John, Caspar/Jasper left North Carolina with his family, perhaps a few years later, but headed to Edgar County, Illinois.
Children:
- John, born c1797, North Carolina; died 18 November 1872, Anderson County, Texas; married Susanna Parker, 31 July 1825, Edgar County, Illinois
- Thomas, born 1799, North Carolina; died 1852, Shelby County, Texas; married (1) Catherine Morgan, 22 June 1824, Edgar County, Illinois (2) Mary Ann Russell, perhaps in Texas
- Elizabeth, born 1801, North Carolina; died between 1870-1880, probably Edgar County, Illinois; married Absolem Wells, 3 March 1824, Edgar County, Illinois
- Elijah, born 1803, North Carolina; died 14 December 1873, Clark County, Missouri; married Rachel Sears, 11 March 1828, Edgar County, Illinois
As you can see so far, Caspar and Catherine Stoehr/Starr have many descendants and there are still four more children who grew to adulthood and married!
