Santa will be on his way tonight and little children are very excited!
This vintage postcard in my collection was mailed on 25 December 1908 to 9 year old Miss Lizzie Droste from “Geo. Mengersen.” There are actually two George Mengersens living in Chicago when Lizzie was there. One is a 58 year old man and the other a 13 year old boy. Neither has any apparent connection to Lizzie’s family, so George might have just been a family friend.
Lizzie grew up and married Paul Wolf. They had one child, but I haven’t been able to learn anything about her past the 1950 census, so there is no one to whom I can gift this cute postcard. Lizzie died in 1984 and is buried in DuPage County, Illinois.
Let’s jump forward in time 116 years to today:
Have a wonderful Christmas holiday with friends and family and I hope Santa brings everything on your wish list.
Cute postcard and lovely to know its history.
Happy Christmas to you and your family! We’re currently without power due to a storm … could be an interesting celebration 🎅🤶🎄
Merry Christmas and what a delightful vintage greeting, flag and all. Enjoy your holidays!
