Saturday Night Genealogy Fun: Are You Writing Your Personal History?

It’s November, Daylight Savings Time ended this weekend and it’s the first Saturday Night Genealogy Fun of November.

Randy Seaver has an interesting prompt this week:

1)  Are you writing about your own personal history?  What are you including?  How are you doing with it?  Who will you distribute it to?

My short answer is “No, not really.” My son is marginally interested in the family history and doesn’t appear very taken in by stories that Dave and I share informally about growing up.

My more extended answer is that I have written short posts about growing up in Passaic, New Jersey and many years of family vacations spent on Lake Winnipesaukee in New Hampshire and Little Sebago Lake in Maine.

Those who seem most interested in my stories have been readers who were also born and raised in Passaic or who have spent vacations on the lakes in New England.

If I did decide to write a more detailed life story, my son might be interested in it at some later point in his life.

That’s it for this week’s challenge from Randy!

  1. You could start by using the posts you’ve already written and combine them into a story. Someday, he may be interested.
