NOTE: This will be the last generation of descendants that I will post online, as even this generation is quite big. Also, there are a number of living descendants among the 3X great grandchildren of Loyalists John Adams and wife Sarah Coley. For those families in which there are living children, their names will not be included in the family sketch.

There are many descendants for whom I can find no further information, especially with more stringent privacy laws in Canada. If it is possible that a “lost” person might be living, that information will also be omitted from the family sketch.

These family sketches will be posted in groups organized under each of the children of John and Sarah (Coley) Adams based on the birth order of those children.

Sarah’s obituary only mentions husband Charles Powell, so she apparently had no surviving children.

Josephine Hatch (Charlotte Kinney4, Sarah3, Jonathan2, John1) was born 26 October 1859, Lincoln, Sunbury, New Brunswick, Canada; died 14 December 1918, Lake Villa, Lake, Illinois; married Thomas Milledge Gratz, 14 June 1878, at the Methodist Church, Lincoln, Sunbury, New Brunswick, Canada. Thomas was born 8 July 1855, Burton, Sunbury, New Brunswick, Canada; died 13 February 1930, Libertyville, Lake, Illinois. He married (2) Elizabeth Atridge, c1925. She died in 1938. Josephine is buried at Angola Cemetery, Lake Villa, Lake, Illinois. The family moved to Chicago in 1892 to participate in building the Canadian building at the Columbian Exposition.

Marion had a son, Edwin Darwin Winnis, born 1 May 1903, Illinois. However, by 1910, she is listed at home, widowed, but with Edwin nowhere to be found. He died 20 September 1964, Santa Clara County, California. He apparently married between 1930-1950, when he was enumerated as divorced. It is unknown whether he had any children and no records can be found for Stephen Edward Winnis.
