Ebenezer Stufflebeam, born c1794, probably in New York is the most mysterious of the children of Michael Stufflebeam.

Ebenezer never even appeared in a federal census record.

He has been found in only two records – his marriage to Elizabeth Thomas on 30 December 1815, Pickaway County, Ohio and the 5 May 1831 guardianship application of Jeremiah Fleming for the care of his daughters, Izelda and Mariah/Maria.

Jeremiah Fleming was appointed as guardian to the two young girls, but no connection has been found to the Stufflebeam family. Did he perhaps marry the widow of Ebenezer, Elizabeth (Thomas) Stufflebeam? No further record has been found for her.

Children:

1. Izelda, born c1820, Illinois; died after 1870; married John W. Bush, 10 August 1836, Warren County, Indiana as his second wife. He was a wagon maker.
2. Maria, born c1822, probably Illinois; died between May 1831 and April 1838, as only her sister is named in a land deed listing all the heirs of Michael Stufflebeam, deceased.

Izelda, who lost her father at a young age and with no evidence of her mother still living, married John W. Bush when she was about 16 years old and was his second wife.

John was born c1801 in Ohio and had at least one son, William, born c1828 with his unknown first wife. By 1850, John and Izelda were still living in Warren County with William Bush, 22 at home along with Maria E., born 1838 (and likely named for Izelda’s only sibling), John W., born 1840, Cynthia A., born 1842, Rosa, born 1846 and Samuel, born c1849.

In 1860, the Bush family was in Warren County and little Samuel was no longer in the home so likely died young, but 7 year old Nancy Ann appeared.

William and Izelda’s children, likely all born in Warren County, Indiana, were:

1. Maria E., born c1838; died 17 April 1852; buried Robb Cemetery, Warren County, Indiana
2. John W., born c1840; died 1902; Warren County, Indiana; married Sylvia E. Darling, 30 December 1873, Warren County, Indiana. They were the parents of one daughter and three sons.
3. Cynthia A., born c1842; married Thomas Beebe, 20 June 1861, Warren County, Indiana. Both seem to have died before 1900, but were the parents of at least seven children.
4. Rosa, born c1846; not found in1860 and likely died young.
5. Samuel, born c1849; probably died before 1860
6. Nancy Ann, born c1853; died 7 August 1870, Champaign County, Illinois; married John T. Sprague, 9 November 1869, Warren County, Indiana. John married (2) Mary A. Atkinson, 6 December 1870, Champaign County, Illinois. If Nancy died in childbirth, she had no surviving children as his oldest child in 1880 was born in 1872.

Therefore, of the six children of William and Izelda, only John and Cynthia married and went on to have children of their own.

John W. Bush married Sylvia A. Darling and had five children:

1. Myrtle Ann, born 12 August 1874, Warren County, Indiana; died 26 August 1930, Moscow, Latah, Idaho; married John DeWitt, 10 December 1899, Warren County, Indiana. They were the parents of son Arthur Leo, born 13 October 1900, Highland County, Ohio; died September 1987; married Viola E. Otter, 23 May 1924, Latah County, Utah and daughter Myrtle Chrystine, born 10 July 1910, Utah; died 1983, Utah; married Arthur Ross, 23 June 1937. They had one son and one daughter.
2. Bert, born 1 August 1876, Warren County, Indiana; died 12 March 1904, Warren County, Indiana; married Mary Etta Comus, 4 October 1899, Warren County, Indiana. They had one daughter, Iris Myrtle, born 17 February 1902; died 5 April 1972, Grant County, Indiana; unmarried, so Bert has no descendants.
3. Lewis Wesley, born 18 April 1879, Warren County, Indiana; died 5 November 1967, Brevard County, Florida; married Mabel Yeager, 17 August 1912, Warren County, Indiana. They had one daughter, Mary Lillian, born 7 June 1914, Warren County, Indiana; died 15 April 2002, Butler County, Ohio; married Harry B. Pollak, between 1940-1950. They had one daughter, Leslie Nadine Pollak (1946-2010), who married several times and had one son and three daughters.
4. Arthur, born 25 September 1881, Warren County, Indiana; died 26 February 1951, Crawford County, Illinois ; married Lucretia Dedrick, c1913. They were the parents of four children – Evelyn, Kenneth, Vernon, and Arthur.
5. Mary Elizabeth, born 16 January 1921; died 16 January 2007; married Emmett Hawkins, c1946. They were the parents of at least two daughters.

Thomas and Cynthia Ann (Bush) Beebe were the parents of eight children:

1. Marcus Elliot, born 1862, Indiana; died 14 March 1921, Charleston, Charleston, South Carolina; married Mary Louvilla Cain, 15 August 1886, Warren County, Indiana. They were the parents of five children – Clinton Elmer, born 12 February 1887; died 19 October 1961, LaGrange County, Indiana; married Inez Pauline Reade, 21 November, 1921, Indiana. They had only one daughter, Mary Cassandra, born 1922; died 1989; married Donald E. Weaver. Marcus’ second son, Ira Leroy was born 24 January 1889; died 22 April 1962, Tucson, Pima, Arizona; married Carrie Magdalene Lobmeyer, 30 October 1923, Warren County, Indiana. They had no children. Marcus’s third child, daughter Goldie Iris was born 18 June 1897; died 23 January 1978, Warren County, Indiana; married (1) William Linzy Ruark, 6 September 1916, Warren County, Indiana (2) Frank McElhoe, 16 August 1948, Kern County, Florida. Goldie had at least five children – (1) Elmer Porter Ruark (1917-1994) who married Martha Betty Osborn, 1 September 1950 and had three sons. (2) William Ruark 1925-1928); (3) Anore Mary Ruark, born 3 August 1920; died 25 November 2004; married Izadore (I.Z) Tyler by 1950 but had no children; (4) Dorothy DeQuinn Ruark, born 16 July 1922; died 25 November 1999; married Walter Ralph Ruark, c1945. They had a son and daughter. (5) Betty Jean Ruark was born 24 July 1925, Lake County, Illinois; died 22 April 2005; married Edward Garold Mitton. They had a daughter and a son, Edward Garold Mitton (1947-2021) who married and left a wife and two daughters.
2. Cora E., born 11 October 1866, Indiana; died 1 May 1908, Lake County, Indiana; married William W. Payne (1853-1891), 24 December 1884, Warren County, Indiana. They were the parents of two children – (1) Evea Muriel, born 24 December 1886/7; died 18 October 1971, Lake County, Indiana; married John S. Van Orman, 16 September 1908, Lake County, Indiana. They had one daughter, Harriet Catherine Van Orman, born 10 October 1909; died 6 November 1953, Lake County, Indiana and unmarried. (2) William Thompson, born 29 May 1890; died 26 April 1944, Carson County, Texas; married Geneva Merl Smith, 26 November 1932, Warren County, Indiana. They had one son, Thomas B. Payne, born c1934.
3. Rose, born c1868; died before 1880
4. George Edward, born 11 December 1871, Indiana; died 15 May 1940; married Laura Louise McCartney, 1892. They had five children – (1) William Walker Beebe, born 20 June 1892, Warren County, Indiana; died 5 May 1942, Cook County, Illinois; married Florence A. Wilkie, 12 August 1930, Tippecanoe County, Indiana. They had three children – (1) William George Beebe, born 12 April 1930; died 16 October 2007 and married Lillian Rose Moore, 1951. It appears they have children as their gravestone at Arlington National Cemetery says “beloved parents” but names are unknown. (2) Julia Laura Beebe (18 February 1932-19 January 2020) who married Frank Bernard Hickstein, but had no children and (3) John Richard Beebe, born 6 July 1935, Cook County, Illinois; married Arlene M. (MNU) who died in 2002. They had one son.
5. Ernest Ross, born 17 February 1877; died 26 May 1950, Fulton County, Illinois; married Clara Belle Janery, c1900. They were the parents of three children – (1) Helen Irene, born 9 October 1900; died 27 November 1990, Lake County, Indiana; married Colin S(hotto?) Howat. They had three children – (1) Ernest Frederick Howat (31 October 1921- June 1985, St Charles County, Missouri) who married Lorraine F. Young, 22 May 1954, St. Louis, Missouri. They had four children. (2) Colin S(hotto?) Howat (4 August 1923-29 March 2013) who married Ethel Ruth Parker. The had two sons. (3) Barbara Ann Howat, born 27 December 1933, Indiana; died 12 February 2003, Miami County, Indiana; married James C. Fox, 1955. They had three children.
6. Earl Ford, born 17 July 1879; died 14 March 1908, Lake County, Indiana; married Ada Lisk, 17 May 1899, Warren County, Indiana. They had one son, Kenneth Raymond Beebe, born 24 November 1899, Illinois; died 12 March 1971, Cass County, Indiana; unmarried. Earl has no descendants today.
7. Jessie Thomas, born 30 March 1880; died 21 July 1939, Lake County, Indiana; unmarried. Jesse has no descendants.
8. Gladys, born July 1883; died 1956; married Roy Otto McDade, 21 December 1904, Warren County, Indiana. They had no children.

This concludes the descendants of Ebenezer Stufflebeam, son of Michael Stufflebeam, who died by 1832, place unknown. Although he only had one surviving daughter, Izelda, who married and had children, he has quite a few descendants today.
