Descendants of William Alexander Williams & Hepsabeth Davidson, VA, TN & AR: Part 7, Harriet Virginia Williams

We’re getting closer to the end of the Williams children now, rather than the beginning, but we still have several children to cover.

Child #9 was John Christopher Williams, my husband’s 2X great grandfather. I’ve written about him and all the descendants a number of times so let’s move along with Child #10, Harriet Virginia Williams.

Harriet was born on 9 October 1850 in Lafayette County, Arkansas. She grew up in Lafayette County and, when she was about 19 years old, she married David Henderson (Hint) Jones.

Remember, there was still turmoil at the end of the Civil War and there appear to be some missing records from the end of the 1860s.

Harriet had just turned 20 when she gave birth to her first child was remained a very busy lady, giving birth to thirteen children up until 1892, when Hint died. However, at least six died in infancy or childhood.

Hint, born c1848, was the brother of Elijah Pridgen Jones who married Harriet’s sister, Sally.

All events took place in Hempstead County, Arkansas unless otherwise noted.

  12. Emmett, born 20 August 1891; died 24 November 1892
  13. Child, born c1892; died before 1900

Hint and Harriet had a hard life with the children they lost. Hint died on 10 February 1892.

Harriet gave birth to and buried four children whose names are not known plus Jacob, William, Charles and Emmett, who all died before 1900.

At the beginning of the 20th century, Harriet was a widow with the following children still living – Henry, Lum, Leila, Ida and Walter.

She married John R. Robson in 18 August 1895, Lafayette County, Arkansas. John was born on 27 April 1847 and predeceased Harriet, passing away on 18 June 1923, Hempstead County, Arkansas. They had no children together.

However, Harriet faced more sadness when Henry died in 1903.

Harriet must have been a very strong lady to give birth to so many children and be able to accept the deaths of so many of them at very young ages.

Harriet Virginia (Williams) (Jones) Robson died on 24 December 1938 in Hempstead County, Arkansas.
