Another day, another BSO and another great discovery!
This is a land petition that proves statements that I’ve previously seen about my Loyalist Jonathan Parker and family living in Beaver Harbor, New Brunswick before settling on Campobello Island.

To his Excellency Thomas Carleton Esq . Captain General and Governor in Chief of the province of New Brunswick, and Territories thereon defending , & c.
The Memorial of Albert Rickman, Peter Rickman, Anthony Rickman, Jonathan Dunn, Jeremiah Dunn, Benjamin Dunn, Adam Smith, Joshua Wilson, Benjamin Parker, Samuel Parker, Jonathan Parker, and Mrs Sophia Barret Widow of Capt Barret, of the Beaver Harbor Association, and now of Campo Bello humbly sheweth That they are Loyalists who arrived in this province on the 15th September 1783, from New York , and have not yet drawn any Land.
They therefore humbly pray your Excellency that their proportions may be allotted them on Moose Island and as in duty bound & c. – 1th Andrews 8th Sept 1785
This one document names three Parker men over 21 – and it is thought that Benjamin was the father of at least Jonathan if not also Samuel – and it also identifies their first place of residence in Beaver Harbor and proves that by 8 September 1785, they were on Campobello Island.
Although the passenger list of The Camel survives, it also corroborates their arrival from New York on 15 September 1783.
What a cool document!!! Wonderful it was preserved, digitized and made available online 😊
This is such an incredible find! Doing research on the Parker family tree- this is most helpful! My Great-great grandfather is Wellington Parker.
Hey Kelly there you are again! Mark here. Always from time to time try to figure out if our James M. Parker (1792 – 6/3/1877) is s/o Jonathan Parker. I agree with Linda that geneology w/o corroboration is fantasy.
Hi Linda Stufflebean. Any thoughts on whether James M. Parker of Campobello/Welchpool is actually a s/o Jonathan Parker? Farthest I can get is that he had a lot in Welchpool on the lower street near the wharf, was the grandson of either Richard or John (this according to the Gallagher Journal which also states that per tradition, there are two distinct Parker lines – descendants of Jonathan and those of Richard, John and Thomas). It is only commonly believed JMP is s/o Jonathan. Thanks be well. Mark
