The second item to be gifted home to descendants this month is a postcard from Lakes Winnipesaukee and Winnisquam, New Hampshire, written by Marge Young to her parents.
Because this postcard was mailed in relatively recent times, there won’t be too many details about the family posted because we quickly run into living people.
Edward Weston Young was born 5 November 1892 in Maine and died on 15 November 1955 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts. He married Evelyn Rachel Paskell, c1918. she was born on 29 march 1895 in Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts and died in 1965.
They were the parents of two daughters:
- Evelyn Mae, born 20 April 1919, Boston, Suffolk, Massachusetts; died 9 October 2000; married Arthur E. Donovan
- Marjorie Dorothea, born 1925, Weymouth, Norfolk, Massachusetts; died 15 March 2017; married Charles H. Lonergan (1925-2010)
Edward and Evelyn have descendants living today, through both their children and the postcard has gone home to one of them.
What a lovely postcard and a precious memento. My nana collected postcards and had many, many albums… I seem to recall my mum saying they had to get rid of them as no-one else wanted them and shipping across the ocean to me would have been prohibitively expensive 😢
