Saturday Night Genealogy Fun: Your 2024 Genea-Gifts

I can’t believe that this is the last weekend of 2024, so it’s time for Randy Seaver’s last SNGF challenge of the year.

1) Was Genea-Santa good to you?  What genealogy gifts did you receive for Christmas this year?

My answer is going to be pretty short because Santa brought me a subscription to Arkiv Digital so I could check for any new records – Since AD is busy indexing – that might pertain to my Swedish line.

I’ve been eagerly searching, but haven’t found anything new so far.

However, I’m very thankful that Santa gave me the subscription. A couple of years ago, I finally found the death record for my Anders Molin, who had disappeared after 1786. AD thankfully indexed the church records for the town where he died because I never in a million years would have had any reason to look in Lidköping, Skaraborg County. Absolutely no other family members were ever known to have been in the town or even in the county.

I did ask Santa for some new clues to help crack some brick walls. None turned up in my stocking, but maybe Santa will make a late delivery in 2025.

Other than that, there were no genea-gifts on the list this year as my other subscriptions are all up-to-date.

  1. I hope you do find more records at Arkiv Digital. I have yet to try that site. I had done most of my Swedish work back in the day of Genline, which is now on Ancestry. I have too much other work to do than to look for more Swedish ancestors of my husband.
