Daniel Alberty & Valinda Douthit, NC & AR

There is much less known about Daniel Alberty, son of John Henry and Rebecca (MNU) Alberty.

Daniel Alberty was born c1811 in North Carolina, likely the third son and third child both to Henry and Rebecca.

Daniel married Valinda Douthit on 17 March 1834 in Davidson County, North Carolina.

Daniel and Valinda made the trip to Arkansas with other family members and were enumerated in Washington County, Arkansas in 1840. At that time, there was one female aged 30-39, two males aged 20-29, one female aged 20-29, one male under 5 and two females under 5.

Valinda died sometime before the 1850 census, as Daniel is found as head of household with two children, Nancy, born 1837, Indiana and George, born 1840, Arkansas. If the second female was a child of Daniel’s, she appears to have died before 1850.

Also at home in 1850 are Henry and Rebecca Alberty and Daniel’s unmarried sister, Mary.

Daniel never remarried. On 1 November 1854, he purchased 55 81/100 acres of land in T 13N R 33W S2 plus another 40 acres in 1861 in the same township, range and section.

By 1860, Henry Alberty had died. Daniel is again head of household with Nancy, 21, Andrew, 19, his mother Rebecca, 77, and his sister, Mary, 33.

Daniel Alberty died between 1880, when he lived with son George’s family in Washington County, and 1900, when he is no longer found in the census.
