Flag Day 2020

This year is the 243rd anniversary of the adoption of the Flag of the United States of America.

Did you know that the flag that flew above Fort Henry during the War of 1812, the same flag that inspired Francis Scott Key to write The Star-Spangled Banner, can be viewed at the Museum of American History in Washington, DC?

The Star-Spangled Banner, the Flag That Inspired the National Anthem is an interactive website hosted by the Smithsonian.

The site is free to use. I learned a lot about the War of 1812, the making of that flag and some of the history of our national anthem.

Take a few minutes today to learn all about the history of that famous flag.

Happy Birthday to Our Flag!
