Remembering all that American workers endured to eke out a living in past centuries. I, myself, am thinking of George R. Sabo (aka Kucharik), the grandfather I never knew, and Maria Scerbak Tidik, Nana’s only sister. Both died of tuberculosis (aged 42 and 26, respectively) which they likely caught working in the industrial mills along the Passaic River.
