As I’ve been away for several weeks and pretty much out of contact with the internet, here is a summary of recent RootsTech 2018 news and announcements:
First, and most importantly, if you are thinking about attending RootsTech 2018 and haven’t yet registered, the Early Bird discount registration price of $169 ENDS tomorrow, Monday, 16 October 2017. On Tuesday, 17 October 2017, the price increases to $199. Register before midnight on Monday at the Early Bird rate!
If you are still thinking about attending and haven’t made a firm decision, here are several good reasons to attend:
Olympian Scott Hamilton will be the Keynote Speaker on 2 March 2017. Not only is he a champion skater, but he’s also a cancer survivor, a positive role model and an inspiration to all. Here is the perfect opportunity to hear him in person!
Next, RootsTech is also about the class sessions and tremendous amount of genealogical knowledge to be gained. The class schedule is now available. Check it out to see what sessions your favorite speakers are presenting.
This year’s schedule has five handy tabs on the left side of the menu page – PASS, DIFFICULTY, CATEGORY, ROOM and SEARCH.
PASS – explains which level of registration pass is required to attend a session – Family Discovery Day, Getting Started and RootsTech or ALL attendees may attend the session.
DIFFICULTY – Each session is geared towards a specific researching experience level – Beginner, Professional, Intermediate and Advanced. Many talks are multi-level.
CATEGORY – Class sessions are grouped into various categories. For example, if you are interested in sessions with a focus on genealogical methodology, you can focus your session search by clicking that choice in the CATEGORY list.
ROOM – For those wanting to attend sessions in a small walking area, choose ROOM and then click your choice to see what will be presented there.
SEARCH – A second way to do a general session search.
Lastly, if, like me, you need to budget the dollars carefully, there are opportunities to win RootsTech registration passes. The 2018 Ambassadors will be hosting contests to win a free pass. Two bloggers have already posted their contests and many more will be doing so. Watch for contest news!
