The last Christmas memory for this year is a photo of my brother and me with Santa (in the exact same chair as the 1954 photo, but this looks like a different Santa) probably taken in Passaic, New Jersey in 1959. This picture looks like the dog chewed up the bottom of it!
Linda and Brother, Christmas 1959
I hope you’ve enjoyed the quick visits to Christmases past. Happy Holidays to All!
I have seen this photo many times and even have the photo that was used to create this Christmas card, but I was just a little too young to remember having the picture taken.
My parents sent out this Christmas card in 1955:
Season’s Greetings from the Sabo Family 1955
I really wish that this one had been signed by my parents, the way that Nana’s leftover cards were.
An antique is not officially an antique until it is 100 years old. I realize that my two “antique” memories posted from the 1920s and 1930s don’t officially qualify, but Nana’s and my grandfather’s Christmas cards were at least before my lifetime.
Today’s memory is the earliest photo of have of me with Santa Claus, so this one is definitely “vintage” and not “antique”!
Linda with Santa, 1953
This Santa must have had a multi-year contract with the store because I also have me with him sitting in the exact same chair a year later, in 1954! This picture was likely taken at one of the stores in downtown Passaic, New Jersey where we lived.
