The family sketch of William Tarbox, son of William Sr. and Judith Haskell, is more streamlined than that of his older brother, Joseph, but his descendants were not much more prolific than Joseph’s.
William Tarbox Jr. was born 4 February 1813 in new Gloucester, Cumberland, Maine, the third son and fifth child of William and Judith (Haskell) Tarbox.
Like his siblings, he grew up in tiny New Gloucester, but ventured a bit further out as an adult, to Farmington, Franklin, Maine, about 55 miles from New Gloucester.
William married Mary Ann Currier on 4 May 1843 in Farmington, where they lived the rest of their lives. Mary Ann was born on 28 September 1824 in Kennebec County, Maine and died at the relatively young age of 46 on 1 December 1870.
William outlived his wife by many years, passing away on Christmas Day in 1898. Both died and are buried in Farmington.
William and Mary Ann were the parents of two sons and one daughter.
Children:
- Jabez Currier, born 28 July 1843 (not, this isn’t a typo) in New Gloucester, Cumberland, Maine; died 13 December 1921, Farmington; married Columbia F. Whitney, 18 August 1873. They were the parents of one son, Frederick W., born c1875; died 1880, Farmington, and one daughter Belle Violet, born May 1874 in Farmington; died 1959, Winthrop, Suffolk, Massachusetts.
Belle Violet Tarbox married Louis W. Franklin, 8 August 1895 in Farmington. They were the parents of three children – Anita, who married, but had no children, Robert, who never married and Lewis Currier.
Lewis Currier Franklin was born 6 September 1898, Waltham, Middlesex, Massachusetts; died 1965 in Winthrop, Suffolk, Massachusetts. He married Josephine Johnson, c1928. They were the parents of one son, Lewis Currier Franklin Jr., born 1929; died in Florida. Lewis Jr. married and had four children.
2. Samuel Orlando, born 16 November 1846; died 12 October 1915, both in Farmington, Franklin, Maine; married Kate B. Randall, 28 December 1871, also in Farmington.
Samuel and Kate were the parents of four children, but only one has descendants.
Children:
- E. Blanche, born 15 June 1873; died 6 March 1888, both in Farmington. Blanche has no descendants.
- Mary D., born 22 April 1874 (twin); died 17 July 1892, both in Farmington. Mary has no descendants.
- Samuel O., born 22 April 1874 (twin), Farmington, Franklin, Maine; died 18 August 1937; married Mary F. (Mollie) Jordan, c1900. They were the parents of one son, Orland Jordan Tarbox.
Orland was born 31 January 1902, Farmington, Franklin, Maine; died 1983; married Eleanor Hammond, 4 July 1931 in Farmington. They were the parents of one son and one daughter, both of whom have descendants.
3. Rosa M. born 14 March 1863; died 16 February 1936, both in Farmington. She married Benjamin Robinson, 30 October 1893, Everett, Middlesex, Massachusetts. Benjamin and Rosa had no children.
Therefore, William Tarbox has descendants today through his sons, Jabez and Samuel.
