This month’s GeneaGem is Documenting the American South, an online collection of sixteen thematic collections of primary source material for the study of Southern history, literature and culture.
This collection is very easy to access. Simply click on the link for each:

Topics in this collection are varied. For those with enslaved ancestors in North Carolina, check out “North American Slave Narratives.”
“Oral Histories of the American South” has documented the stories of 500 people with a focus on Southern life.
“North Carolina Maps” provides a number of historical maps that would be very helpful for researchers interested in the travels of their ancestors.
Anyone with North Carolina connections should take some time and browse these GeneaGem resources!
Looks like a wonderful collection to dig down into…the maps are tempting even for me, who has no ancestors in the American South!
