Saturday Night Genealogy Fun: Two Truths and One Lie

It’s time for Saturday Night Genealogy Fun with Randy Seaver and he has an interesting challenge for us this week:

1)  Let’s play the game “Two Truths – One Lie.”  Tell three family stories – two must be true, and one must be a lie – an untruth.
2)  Have your readers guess which story was the lie, and their reasons for picking that story.

This takes a bit of thinking, which isn’t my strong suit at night!

(1) My ancestor, Joseph Eveleth, died in 1745 when he was 104 years old.

(2) My great grandfather, Stephen Kucharik/Sabo, died in 1933 when he drunkenly fell out of a second story window.

(3) My great grandfather, Charles Adams, died in 1922 because he trimmed a nose hair.

Okay, those are my three stories and I’m sticking with them! Which is the fib?

Thanks, Randy. It will be interesting to read everyone else’s stories.

UPDATE: Which are true and which is the lie?

  1. TRUE – Joseph’s birth and death are both documented in Massachusetts records.
  2. LIE – Janice was correct – Stephen fell out of a second story window, landed on his head, and not only didn’t he not die, he refused medical attention according to the newspaper article!
  3. TRUE – My great grandfather was trimming nose hair, cut himself and got a strep infection. This was a few years before penicillin. He died just 2 days later.
