  1. I like the idea of getting AI out of my apps and out of my life. I’m retired, so I have time. I can do tasks like transcribing for myself. Doing the transcribing gives me a good feel for the document, helps me understand it. I saw what AI did to the 1950 census, including skipping lines, conflating lines, leaving out entire households, and royally messing up my father’s name! I am a better paleographer (reader of old handwriting) than AI. There are nuances to handwriting that AI just does not have the capability to deal with because AI is not flexible like a human mind is.
