Here’s a bit of Presidential trivia dating back to President William H. Taft and his Vice President James S. Sherman.

This piece of ephemera is postmarked 13 October 1908 with a message from R. Barnes to J.L. Yost of Gragstown, Ohio.
Although the message is all about Mr. Barnes’s hunting trip, the image clearly illustrates his political leanings as a few weeks later, William Howard Taft was elected as the 27th President of the United States.
James S. Sherman was his running mate, who served as Vice President from 4 March 1909 until 30 October 1912, the day he died of Bright’s Disease and one week before the 1912 election.
The vice presidency remained vacant until 4 March 1913, when Woodrow Wilson was sworn into office as the new President and Thomas R. Marshall became the new Vice President.
Quite a nice vintage postcard!
