I love this vintage Valentine’s Day postcard, illustrated by Ellen Clapsaddle. It’s really interesting because the young lovers are clothed as a colonial couple. I don’t know that I’ve ever seen that before on a Valentine greeting.

The inscription on the back is interesting, too, as it appears to be from L. Webster to a young gentleman caller – Walter Culbertson – instead of from a young man to a young lady.

I’d love to know if they ever married as the lady is clearly signaling that she’d like to be married, but I haven’t found a Walter Culbertson who married any Webster in the early 20th century.
