Mary Ann Josephine (Polly Ann) Williams was the second child of Matthias Williams and Millie A. Elizabeth Shackelford, born 2 October 1859 in Roane County, Tennessee.

Polly Ann, as she was known, married Henry H. Haggard on 25 July 1888 in Loudon County, Tennessee as his second wife. he died between 26 April 1910 and 11 December 1911. He was a Civil War veteran, buried in Oral Cemetery with a military headstone that has no death date inscribed on it.

Although Henry had children with his first wife, he and Polly Ann had no children of their own.

However, Polly Ann was the mother of one son, Frank T. Williams, born 1881 in Roane County, Tennessee. His father is unknown and Frank hasn’t been found in the 1900 census. He isn’t living with Henry and Polly Ann at that time.

Frank T. Williams married Maggie Luvina Shucks on 25 December 1906, Roane County, Tennessee. she had been married previously and had three children living with the family in 1910 – Maggie, 16, Luther, 12, and Earnest, 8., all erroneously named Williams by the census taker.

Frank and Maggie had two children. Polly Ann was born 31 August 1907; died 28 January 1975 in Columbiana County, Ohio; married Frank Walter Fish on 13 March 1923 in Roane County, Tennessee. Polly Ann was the mother of 16 children! The second child was Thomas Franklin, born 2 December 1909, Roane County, Tennessee; died 11 March 1969, Harlan County, Kentucky; married Cora Orvel Shockley, c1930, probably in wise County, Virginia. He was the father of six children.

Whatever happened to Polly Ann’s son, Frank T., isn’t evident. He and Maggie divorced by 1920. Maggie Williams is found living with her three older children, his daughter and son, Polly Ann and Thomas F., are living with their grandmother, Polly Ann (Williams) Haggard, but Frank is nowhere to be found.

Polly Ann (Williams) Haggard died on 21 March 1923 in Roane County, Tennessee.

Although Polly Ann (Williams) Haggard had only one child, born before she married, she has many descendants – 22 grandchildren alone!
