Today, we will take a short look at the third documented generation of the Ogden family of Yorkshire and eventually New York and Connecticut.
Not a lot is known about this family, either.
Richard Ogden, son of John Ogden and possibly Alice (MNU) was born c1545, probably in Haworth, Yorkshire, England, as that had been the family home for some decades.
About 1564, Richard married Elizabeth (MNU) and they became the parents of an unknown number of children, as richard acknowledged in his will that he had other children, not named, who had already received their portions of his estate.
Children:
- Edmund, born c1566; died between 24 September 1599-19 December 1599; married Agnes (MNU)
- Richard, born before 17 April 1576, Bingley, Yorkshire, England; died about 4 March 1629/30; married Unknown (MNU)
- John, born c1578
- Thomas, born c1580; married Sara Ainleye, 3 May 1602, Halifax, Yorkshire, England
- William, born before 28 July 1582; died before 1605
- Samuel, born c1584; died about 13 July 1631 of the plague, Ovenden, Halifax, Yorkshire, England; married an unknown wife who also died of the plague about 12 July 1631
- Nicholas, born c1586; died about 5 October 1638, Haworth, Yorkshire, England; married an unknown wife, who died about 4 December 1619, Bingley, Yorkshire, England
- Michael, born c1588; died about 30 May 1623, Bradford, Yorkshire, England; married an unknown wife who died about 9 June 1624, also in Bradford.
Richard Ogden Sr. died before 10 April 1606, when his will was recorded, probably in Haworth, Yorkshire, England. His wife Elizabeth is named in his will, but no further information has been found about her.
Cool that you were able to find Richard’s will!!
