Timko Family of Udol, Slovakia

This family is part of my one-place study of St. Dimitry’s Greek Catholic (today Byzantine Catholic) Church parish, serving Udol and Hajtovka, Slovakia, covering the years 1827-about 1920. I will be sharing family records, roughly once a week, until all families in the parish are posted. Be aware that ages at marriage and death frequently don’t match baptismal records, when found. If you have ancestors who lived in these two villages and would like to receive an invitation to a shared Dropbox folder, please leave a comment and I will contact you.

Although there are not many records for the Timko family in Udol, at least one Timko man emigrated and settled in new Jersey because Timko is a name I recognize from my Nana’s Christmas card list.

She was born in 1893, so I’d say either Michael or John Timko, sons of Michael Timko & Maria Drabisin, just above, is probably the person to whom I addressed Christmas cards.

  1. Hello!
My dad, Ian Dornic, grew up in Udol. His mom Maria (Timko) died in Udol in 1937(ish) after giving birth to his younger sister Irene.
Maria’s family had left for America before then- her brother, my dad’s uncle Michael, lived in Passaic, NJ
his aunt Anna lived in Saratoga- his other uncle I believe his name was John.
My dad left Slovakia and did find his aunt and uncles and we would would like to find any living relatives.
I believe the cards you addressed were to my dad’s uncle.
