Blogger Research Toolboxes: 2021 Edition

Checking out and reporting on genealogy bloggers’ toolboxes has become part of my May routine.

The 2021 list has been updated from past versions. A few new websites have been added, while others have been removed, simply because the blogging site has gone dormant.

Many bloggers share terrific tips about little known genealogical resources and add these to their website, usually found on tabs called Research Toolbox or Resources or something along those lines.

Please take the time to visit each of these blogs and take a look at their toolboxes. Resources range from printable blank paper forms to DNA glossaries to free websites to location-specific links.

Here is the 2021 list, with several new entries:

Ancestral Findings – There is a Surnames tab at the top right with a drop down menu, including one on Hard to Find Surnames.

Ancestry Island – There are a couple of categories that have resources.

Empty Branches on the Family Tree – While you are browsing bloggers’ research toolboxes, I hope you will take a look at mine, too. Category links are located right under the header image on the home page. I am currently compiling links to digitized county histories for all 50 U.S. states. There is a new drop down tab under my home page photo for County Histories. Click to find links to states that are already posted. I am adding a new state every few days and will continue until all 50 states are listed.

  1. As always – a fantastic list…I’m going to do some exploring.

Thanks for including mine! The new blocks feature in WP is giving me some issues with editing it, but I’m persevering 🙂
