Saturday Night Genealogy Fun: Where Were Your Ancestors 80 Years Ago?

It’s Saturday, so it’s time for more SNGF with Randy Seaver on Genea-Musings.
Here is this week’s challenge:
1) Determine where your ancestral families were on 1 April 1940 – 80 years ago when the U.S. census was taken.

2)  List them, their family members, their birth years, and their residence location (as close as possible).  Do you have a photograph of their residence from about that time, and does the residence still exist?

Graet Grandmother – Anna (Murcko) Scerbak (1872-1967) – She isn’t in the 1940 census because she lived in Udol, Slovakia! However, she was alive and well in 1940.

Great Grandmother Annie Maude (Stuart) Adams (1874-10 Sept 1940) – Annie was living with my grandparents, Vernon (1899-1968) Adams and Hazel (Coleman) Adams (1901-1995) and in failing health. Also at home were my mother, Doris Priscilla Adams (1923-2008), and my two aunts, Barbara and Carole. The family lived at 630 Wyndemere Road, Ridgewood, New Jersey. The house is still standing.

Julia (Scerbak) Sabo (1893-1985) and my father, George Michael Sabo (1926-1985) were living at 49 Summer Street, Passaic, New Jersey. The house is also still standing:

I had two parents, three grandparents and two great grandparents living in 1940, although one great grandmother lived in Udol, Slovakia.

Thank you, Randy, for this week’s fun challenge.
