Santa Claus and Me

I’ve been a Santa fan for a very long time! Although it’s been many years since I visited with him, he remains a big party of my Christmas collectibles.

Last year, while we were on a cruise – the one that shipwrecked – one of the cruise ports was Kotor, Montenegro.

It was mostly a raw, wet, windy day in between the overcast skies, but I spotted a little shop that sold religious items. As I window shopped, I spotted the newest Santa that was destined to make its new home with all my other little guys.

Father Christmas is almost 14 inches tall and he is carved out of a piece of wood. I love all the details. His beard is beautiful and the carving is so intricate. The staff is in hand is detachable. He is hand decorated and each Father Christmas in the shop was uniquely painted. I fell in love with him the moment I saw him and he was hand carried all the way from Kotor to Tucson. I didn’t want him getting lost or damaged in the mail.

He is now settled into his new home:

Father Christmas is just to the right of the big Santa with his arms up in the air.

I haven’t added any new pieces to my collection this year. Hmm. I might have to visit eBay!

Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to All!
