Today, I am sharing the record of the manumission of Solomon and Mary, his wife, her seven children – David, James, Sarah, Dick, Isaac, Frank, Mary and two men named Samuel. This record spans two pages.
Maryland Sst. To all whom these presents shall Come Greeting, I William Fisher of Ann Arundel County in the State aforesaid, for divers good causes and Considerations me thereunto moving do hereby declare free manumit and Enfranchise the negroes following to wit: Solomon and Mary his wife together with marys seven children viz: David, James, Sarah, Dick, Isaac, Frank and Mary to be free from the date hereof likewise two men by name Samuel both to be free from the date hereof, herby I do acknowledge the said negroes discharged from all Claims of service and right of property
whatever, from me my heirs Executors or administrators in the manner and form above mentioned, As witness my hand ans seal this thirteenth day of April one thousand seven hundred and ninety. William Fisher (seal)

On the back of the foregoing manumission was thus Endorsed to wit: Ann Arundel County, On the 22nd day of April 1790, Personally appeared Before the subscriber one of the Justices of the peace for said county the above named William Fisher party to the within Instrument of writing and acknowledged the same to be his act and deed according tothe true purport and meaning thereof –
